Yo! Just installed Linux Mint - Win10 no more
I had major issues with Windows 10 on my laptop - UI interactions would just hang.
I finally gave up and wiped my machine and installed Linux Mint as my main desktop OS.
I then installed VirtualBox and created a virtual guest to run Windows 10 (for Win dev and apps that I have to have), and ironically it works much better as a VirtualBox guest running under Linux on the same laptop than it did running on the laptop directly!
Joined the forum because when I upgraded from Mint 17 to 17.3 I had a little Update Manager hiccup... I'll post that elsewhere.

Welcome aboard,
seems to be a lot of it going on these days, I also jailed W10 in VB just to see what the fuss was about, wasn't too impressed TBH, not a Win basher but not used it for 4 years or more now, just don't need to, still, didn't see anything in W10 I couldn't already do, and I love mint and the Cinnamon and Mate desktops, I'll fess' up I am a little biased
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new OS and it's privacy and customization as much as we do, you'll find updates/upgrades/reinstalls and file transfer/SSH to name just a few things, all good reasons that make sense why you'd want to stick with it, it all makes perfect sense after a bit of use!

Welcome aboard, northm! Years ago I used to run Win98SE in Win4Lin. Had a couple of applications I needed for my business that only run on Windows. I found that Windows was much more stable running in Win4Lin than running on bare metal. I always guessed it was because a lot of Windows system calls get intercepted and diverted to Linux system calls, and the Linux system was more stable than the native Windows stuff. Don't know for sure if that's correct or not, but it was the best theory I could come up with.
