I meant that machine with the less than 8 bogomips I pasted the /proc/cpuinfo from above (a 386DX-40 on an Octek Jaguar motherboard). Yes, it's up and running on my network...

It's compiling a brand new 2.2.26 kernel for itself. And just give up: if I depress the "Turbo" switch on the case it's a 386DX-16:

The Conner 210 has been relegated to secondary-drive duty. As its main drive it has a Seagate 850MB ST3850A, not nicely displayed in dmesg as such since it's on an exceedingly groovy ISA Tekram DC-600T caching IDE controller with 16M of RAM. It itself has an utterly insane 32M of RAM, a 387 co-processor, a proprietary Panasonic CR-562J 2-speed CD-ROM drive, and a Soundblaster AWE32 with 8M of sample RAM and with the IDE port that connects to that Conner 210, and a WD8013 10Mb NIC -- in shared memory mode. Moreover, and do please hold on to your seats now, what it also has is Tseng Labs ET4000AX/W32 video. Yes. Terribly sorry, but it simply does not get cooler than this. I win each time.

Donald Becker is the author of basically all of the initial batch of low-level network card drivers for Linux.

Hi! I had not long time ago problems with 3½-inch floppies. A friend had asked for some of those. 2 of 5 were broken - and they are newer.

I quite advise the Norton Utilities "disktool /revive" DOS application for that. The thing managed to revive every single deteriorated driver floppy I used to yesterday re-install that 386 with DOS and Windows 3.1...
