So for the purposes you mention would you recommend DIST or BACKUP ?

I usually repack for dist. It wont include the home folder. So any additional data like videos etc will not be repacked. When you reinstall you will get the same prompt to create a user and password, it wont save that informtion either.

Well, having got a bit tired of that old atom laptop I have now installed the latest version of Mint on an i7 4770 desktop.

Realised I haven't updated this for a while.
I've not had much time to devote to this - way too much else to do.
That aside I've found people on the forum very willing to assist as I've gone along, which I'm thankful for.
I've recently updated to 11.1 U5 which has proven to be stable and not problematic for me, at least to date.
The main lesson I have learned of late is in regard to compatibility (or rather widespread incompatibility) of numerous Wi-Fi receivers.
