Noob Intro: Jumped into refreshing Mint Waters

Post by mongst »

Hello all,

My first post on the forum. I havent even added an avatar yet, but I hope that in a few months or years I'll be ale to answer some questions and keep the circle of noob life going.

Jumped into Linux with both feet. I did a full install and left windows 10 in the dust. I figured that if I didnt commit I wouldnt learn the system as fast.

I looked at a bunch of DEs and settled with Mint - its windows-like and is based on Ubuntu - which has loads of help and web posts... and important for me the noob: software repos.

Thanks in advance for all the help - I will do my best to look for and read through posts and to contribute as much as I can.

Welcome! :)

Note that if during your transition you still need Windows occasionally, you can also run it in a virtual machine, by means of VirtualBox.
