I, Me, and Myself

Post by JasWom »

Not much to tell of myself. I'm here due to being directed by some nice folks who sought to assist me. I'm a very long time Windows user who has finally gotten fed up with Microsoft. Windows 10 was the last straw. My desire is to go fully LINUX and leave Windows behind. Will more than likely mean abandoning some cherished software but I'll manage. What do I do? Mainly I experiment with video editing and animation. More hobbyist than income producing though I use the work for classroom education purposes. I was advised that LINUX Mint was probably best for folks like me seeking a quick switch away from Windows. I had been flirting with using Fedora but was told this has a learning curve that won't advocate quick productivity for inexperienced LINUX'ers. So here I am.

Welcome aboard, JasWom! I can tell you that you're not the first person to come here and say that Windows 10 was the last straw. I think that you will find that people here are generally pretty friendly, and that there are some very knowledgeable people here. Again, welcome aboard!

A big welcome from another newbie. This place is a wealth of information. I was able to solve my sound and wifi issues just by searching the info on this forum. I myself never went to Windows 10 and I'm tenaciously hanging onto my win7 machine until I get proficient enough with Linux to go away from windows all together.

Regards,

My machine also has Windows 7 but I'm in the market for a new computer. My wife's computer was Windows 8.1, a royal headache. She got forced/tricked into upgrading to Windows 10. It has been nothing but trouble. As I worked remedy the mess I saw how intrusive and uncooperative it was. There's more to the tale but that's irrelevant now. My focus is to bring us to LINUX. I will be looking through the forum to first see if questions I have are already answered.
