hello world

Post by unuser »

Hi'Lo #community,

i am a chaotic-good version of Discworld's "Rincewind" and since LinuxMint had impressive results on my Laptop i chose to use it, so why not join the forum too?
As some might already know: i know a thing or two and not everything should be taken too serious-lee

Thank you to all of those who assisted me with my issues installing LinuxMint in IRC!

After adding "Option" "Tearfree" to my Xorg configuration my intel-based laptop ran actually *faster* than without it.
But the page-tearing was not completely gone and even switching compositing off in cinnamon-settings did not help.
i could see diagonal page-tearing when scrolling with firefox f.ex.

But because overall performance was really good i searched for a way to get around it.
I wanted to use a DE(Desktop Env.) that could work without compositing but TWM/sawfish/blackbox/"i3" were all a little bit too close to ascii-art-line-drawing.

I finally ended up using "Budgie" Desktop:

...with Gimp opened:

good luck to yall!
*peace

Welcome! I look forward to reading how you installed budgie on mint.
