Hi my name is phil, im new here, ive spent a few weeks messing around with linux mint 18.1 (now upgraded to 18.3)
mainly ive just been setting mint up to my liking and using it for general pc usage up to now, web browsing watching films etc.
I have a tri booting setup (not through a virtual machine, but, three seperate boot options) win 7 64 bit home premium, win xp pro 32 bit (for legacy games and apps)
I suspect mint will become my main os, which it basically has of late, but, I still want the others for legacy support and to use the software and games I already have.
Obviously a home user.

Welcome to the forums phil.
By the way, those 2 Windows versions were/are in the top 3 in my opinion.

Since you have successfully triple booted your PC with no less than 2 windows versions, you can consider yourself no longer a newbie
