Hey everyone, I just getting into using linux. Being a long time windows user I am tired of the microsoft paddle. The software honestly mistreats the end user in windows 10. I was tired of endless removing, trimming, and disabling upon a fresh install of windows. Took a while just to get it set up remotlely how I'd feel okay using it and still was always giving me trouble. I'd use third party applications just so I had control of the System like Spy Shelter FireWall, Glasswire, and Ext.
Well my first distro ever was Raspian Jessie. I am using Refracta, a distro of Devuan on my laptop. Really nice system I like the Init on boot saying OK in green It feels really nice and I like the manual mounting of USB and the packaged software is great for what I need on my laptop for browsing and the like.
On my desktop I am dual booting linux mint now
It works good but I ran into an error on my first set up, aside from trial and error on partitioning.
I uninstalled the virtual keyboard. Upon restarting the system, everything died. Maybe it is to embedded or something, but it may of uninstalled essential portion of Gui. I didn't really mess with the systetm aside from that. Before resetting I couldn't even access certain menus and settings as if it didn't exist. Than when I reboot I just got an Error message and black screen so I had to reinstall again. Also able to shrink the boot partition a bit to make more room for the rest of the drive.
