Hi all, just arrived on Planet Linux. I tried Linux about 7 or 8 years ago but didn't persevere really. Windows 10 made me want to persevere...
Been using Mint 18.3 Cinnamon for less than a week but find Linux much improved since I last tried it. It is certainly a good OS and well worth setting up. I am finding it easier to use generally but have problems remembering the terminal syntax, it will come with time though. Basil. UK

It's like basic training, get past those first two months and the rest becomes a lot easier.
All things go better with Mint. Mint julep, mint jelly, mint gum, candy mints, pillow mints, peppermint, chocolate mints, spearmint,....

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the welcome to Mint Forums. I can't believe how Linux has changed since I last looked at it as an alternative to Windows. It's just so much more user friendly nowadays. Mind you, there are times when I think you need a degree in Alchemy to use Linux, plus a pointy hat with stars and crescent moons on it! A bit like Gandalf....
The terminal is like a sort of A level DOS really.
What struck me as a huge change was that Mint Cinnamon 18.3 just worked straight out of the box, even accessing a network drive was just, well - easy.
Regards,
Basil.
