New to Linux but ready to learn!

Post by mzoeller » Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:11 pm

Hi everyone,

We started looking at Linux last year after we got laptops with Windows 10 loaded on them. It's an understatement to say we're not fans. Every time we get an update, something in the registry has to be fixed, or the bios start up execution order gets jacked up, and the list goes on. I spend more time FIXING my computer than USING it.

We found a used laptop online that has Linux Mint 18.2 loaded on it so we could learn the Linux environment and workings. The seller spent about an hour with my hubby explaining some of it to him, but we don't have a clue! In our household, I'm the one who figures things out and then translates. lol

This looks like a great place to learn. So, here I am... :?

Looking forward to learning,
Melanie

Hey! Thanks for the welcome posts from mods. I've been reading a good bit today and am not familiar with a lot of the terminology. When searching for terminology information, I kept coming up with posts (here and elsewhere) about terminals. Had to chuckle. Anyway, I think this forum is going to really help bring us up to speed towards using Linux Mint. Thanks again!

Welcome aboard amigo.
It's only a modest learning curve--one that you will easily overcome.
Hang around the forum, see what is being asked and the responses, you will learn
a lot by doing this.
