Hi, my name's Jeff. I'm 55 with 2 adult children. I'm originally from northern California but I've lived in Pennsylvania since 1984.
I have used Ubuntu for the past several years, but I have recently switched to Mint, mainly because Mint's desktop environment is more comfortable and convenient. Ubuntu's desktop comes with a few desktop icons by default, but I can't add icons for my software, whereas Mint does allow that (a big plus for me). I like how Mint seems to have "fixed" everything that was "wrong" with Ubuntu. (desktop icons, the buttons on the taskbar for software that is running, clock in the lower right corner - where it "belongs -, etc).
Looking forward to a positive experience with Mint.

Welcome Jeff.
You listed the secondary reasons that I made the switch to LM Cinnamon 2 years ago. The other was the continuous piracy and meddling in private commercial files that I had in mjy old computers with Windex in them.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
My dual-boot setup seems to be up and running finally. All day I kept trying to install Mint alongside Windows 10, but I kept only getting the option to erase Windows and install just Mint. Finally, I don't know what I did different, but it finally offered me the dual-boot option, so here I am...
I'm finally finished with the tedious task of installing and setting up all my software for both Operating Systems.
