Well, when you start with computers, you usually meet with Windows.
I think Mr. Gates is a great guy (I like the fact that he donates a lot of his wealth to charity) and the Windows is widespread across this planet - but it is always good to have the alternatives.
I heard of Linux-based OS a long long time ago but somehow I didn't take step and switch to it. So, last year, I finally took some time and started with Mint - and I liked it.
I also watched few videos of Linus Torvalds - and found that he is also a great guy - doesn't care about money, works on Linux distros from his living room - and once in a interview describe himself
as a 'typical nerd-geek'.
As a newbie, I'm still learning, I do make mistakes, I've discovered that I have to put more effort when doing some things in LMint (working with terminal, for instance) - and, at the time, Mint is still
an alternative system from me. But, I think that is a good start - I've learned that there are hundreds of variations of Linux based OS and everyone can choose the distro that suits them best.
So, in future, I think I'll go in that direction.
