Hello everyone,
I am new here. New to the community and new to Linux. Was using (and still use) Windows 10. Using Windows has always been a frustrating experience for me. Full of problems here and there. In my country, a lot of people use pirated Windows software. I have been using Linux Mint for about a month and I can do whatever I did on Windows here on Linux comfortably. It has all the necessary applications required for any student. I wished Linux was more popular. I tried recommending Linux to others but well, I guess Microsoft has dominated the PC market here and not everyone is tech savvy. And I don't believe in all the expensive crap that Apple sells.
I like to try out new things, especially technology. Surfed the internet and did some research on which Linux would be good to start for beginners. I was confused between Ubuntu and Mint. Ended up installing Linux Mint cinnamon 18.3 on my laptop alongside Windows 10 (dual booted). I am also enthusiastic about the various kinds of software the community can come together to create. I don't like being a slave to the technology offered by the Silicon valley giants and their business practices. I support the philosophy behind Linux and its creator.
So I guess these are my reasons for trying out Linux. I hope that my experience with Linux and its community is a fruitful one and wish to learn many things
about this operating system and become an expert user. And I am also trying to learn the python programming language. Looking forward to having a great time with my new OS~

Welcome Aru!
Some people have a hard time getting used to anything new. I think most people would be very happy with Linux/Mint if they gave it a try like you have.
