Hi from Florida

Post by tgwilt »

Hi all,

Tom Gwilt from Florida here. I've been using Linux and FreeBSD exclusively for 15 years. Just switched from Ubuntu 18.04 to Mint/Mate. Wanted to see how it compares. I am very pleasantly surprised. Seems to run faster and made my 10 year old Laptop seem like it's new again.

I'm into classical guitar, skygazing, and astrophysics.

All the best,

Tom

Hi tom, from another guitarist, however, not classical. Welcome to Mint, it is the first Linux that I feel could beat Windows at their own game.

Hey Tom, what's your favorite subject of astrophysics?
They say your favorite Mint edition was the one you installed when you still went to school with your friends.
I am out there

Hard to answer. Probably observational with a smattering of theoretical. I just got interested in the field recently. I'm 85 years old, and want to keep my brain active.

That was supposed to read "65 years old", not 85 years old.

That's the truth! I've been using Unix like operating systems for a decade and there's always something new! Never stop learning. The day you close your mind to learning new things is when you start to die

You are certainly way above my league, I love it! I've had two classical guitar lessons in my life which started me along the road to playing. I took up music in High
School because I could not see the need for Asian History. I had two lessons and then I had to begin learning two pieces for my exams (only melody lines) so formal lessons were not going to work. It's a pity that I never got back to learning it, I love classical guitar. I am only rhythm, acoustic and bass, but haven't played regularly for some time.

Hey Tom! Welcome aboard the LM Crazy Train!

I'm another Florida resident, and I've called S.W. Florida my home for more years than I really care to admit.

I like to listen to music sometimes, but I never got into playing it. Guitar, piano, and harpsichord are some of my favorite instruments.
