Hello Forum members
Complete Linux novice here, from Warwickshire, England.
I have installed Linux Mint to replace Windows XP on my Samsung netbook a couple of days ago. Delighted to have rejuvenated this little machine, which I retained because I love the non-reflective screen and the keyboard, which is one the best I have ever used.
Really pleased with Mint so far - everything worked straightaway! Looking forward to bringing the netbook on holiday with me in a couple of weeks.

Welcome to the Forum .
It pleases me when I hear that an old but still perfectly usable machine gets a new lease on life from Linux .
It's a tragedy that so much tech goes to landfill dumps these days ..... and why ?
.... it's not the latest model ? ..... it has no Bling status ?
You got a double bonus by ditching XP .... it was great in it's day but it's a security nightmare now !
Linux is way more secure , from the ground up .

As you have already found, notlefs, this is a very friendly, and welcoming, place. We are all here because we have found Linux mint. Most of us have stayed because there is no better alternative.
