Another newcomer to Linux here, or at least I'm dipping my toes in the water.
I installed LinuxMint onto a second partition last night, so I still have Windows sitting on the side but eventually looking to cut it down as my main OS depending on how things go. If there's any command line stuff to do.....I'm going to force myself!!

Hello and welcome. You can probably get by without using the command line, for the most part, but if you are interested in learning about it, I recommend this book (free pdf download):

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they ain't.

You can get by using the GUI for just about anything in Cinnamon. Or you can memorize the book, make some mistakes, and spend a lifetime learning the intricacies of using the command line.
Re: Greetings from the UK!
Welcome Banastre. The command line is simpler for telling others how to achieve something, however, in day to day use, you'll hardly need it. That's the beauty of Linux, there is more than one way to achieve an end, neither is any better, or worse, than the other.
