Hi everyone!
I'm Thierry from Lille, France, but right now I'm working in Russia. I'm getting slowly tired of Microsoft's BS, and am thinking to adopt Linux Mint at some point ; so, I'm here to learn more about it and see whether it is the right thing for me.
Apart from that, I work as an interpreter, love to travel and read manga, and to build model planes and helicopters.
I hope I'll find out that Linux Mint fits my needs and that I'll become one of yours soon!

Welcome to the forum.
Just choose a package that "feels good" to you.
as you are on Windows at present, I would suggest 18.3 Cinnamon as the
this will allow you to get acclimated to Linux with a minimum of fuss, assuming your PC has enough RAM to run Cinnamon.... it is the most intensive of the desktop environments, and it happens to be my favorite of all of them.
at first, just do a dual install and let Linux install "alongside" of Windows, so you can go back and forth until you are ready to ditch Microsoft for good. it took me a while, but now that M$ is behind me, I am not going back.

Welcome aboard, Thierry! I think you will be delighted with Linux Mint. You can boot it from a DVD or USB stick to try it out before installing it.
