Hi from England

Post by jmcginley »

Hi everyone, been a Linux user for a couple of years now since i built my own PC, initially chose Linux as a cost saving measure but over the past couple of years I have been getting more and more frustrated by my Windows laptop with its constant updates and general clunkiness so have started to get more interested in what Linux can actually do for me. I've been having a few issues recently with Linux (most likely to be user error more than anything) so I have stumbled across this forum and it seems like a good place to get involved and learn more.

Hello,
Welcome to the forum. Which version of MInt are you using?
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

Welcome, welcome.

I just got back from spending three weeks in England, Birmingham to be exact. Was visiting me mum.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome everyone, hopefully I'll be able to get stuck in here. No doubt you'll be hearing lots of questions from me to start with but looking forward to the day i actually know what I'm talking about with this OS!

I'm currently running Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon which I've recently upgraded from 18, noticed a slight slow down with the new OS but overall I'm enjoying the experience, coming from a Windows background i love how familiar Mint is yet still a distinct feel about it. Windows 10 has completely killed off any faith I had in Microsoft, granted I was running an old laptop with it on but what's with the constant updates!?! I love being able to just switch my Linux PC on and just get on with whatever I want without the hassle.

Can't say I've ever been to Birmingham except on a flying visit to a business conference on the outskirts but not too far away from here, probably 2 hours east.
