I burned all my copies of windows

Post by Zafir »

Hi from Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Since a year ago I'm running mint 18 Cinnamon after having gone through all the stages of Microsoft, DOS, Windows 3.11, 95, 98 XP and 7. I was previously migrating to open source programs, and when I put together my new PC, it was the excuse to install Mint, I had no problems getting used to it because almost everything I was using by then was already installed from the beginning.
After a little over a month I felt very comfortable with the new OS. So much that I deleted all the copies of windows I had!
The software manager is one of the things that I value most, along with Timeshift. I recently had the opportunity to use it when I wanted to upgrade to version 19. Apparently something was not quite right. Although at the end of the update everything seemed to run perfectly and even faster than before, my printer refused to print despite being perfectly installed. As I could not find a quick solution to the problem I decided to turn to the Timeshift since I can not live without my printer. And voila, in a few minutes I had my dear 18.3 Sylvia back.

And because I don't give up having my mint 19 installed, I decided to join the forum to ask for help in the future.

Very best,
Alejandro

Welcome from me too.

Personally, I'd wait for the point releases before giving 19 another try; the issues might have been ironed out by then. :)

Thank you!
Yes, I'll wait to update. I'm not in a hurry, especially because everything is fine. What I need is to have time to do it. When I tried it, it took me more than four hours. Then, a whole day to test the system. And finally reverse everything with Timeshift, which is great.

By the way, cute cats! I have a black one.

You're welcome.

These two are brother and sister & are absolutely adorable, even if they are little buggers some of the time. They were always together right from the start which is why they both came to live with me together (I'd said I wanted two, to keep each other company while I was out). I didn't know at the time just how brave those words must have sounded.

I can't work out whether they think they are little humans or I'm a big cat; probably a combination of both. Incredibly loving and affectionate, but they do impede progress with respect to computer (& many other) activities.

I had a couple of cats in the past too. One of them was Zafir, the one you see in my avatar. Now I only have a black one. A few months ago I wanted to adopt another one to keep him company but they didn't get on well and he's alone again.

Yes, probably. But I think they believe they are humans and we're their pets  They are lovely but a source of mess too.

Cheers!

In this case I'm undoubtedly the original source of the mess, but when I attemt to tidy it up, they (especially Custard) like to jump in and mess it up again.

At least, that is my excuse. :P
