Greetings from way down under.
I have had a great interest in the many forms of Linux for a long time, I would download and install them just to have a look but at the grand age of 73 I thought I would have go at actually learning to use it.
I just hope I still have the brain power and the memory to learn to use it.

If by "down under" you mean Australia, a double welcome. I live "across the ditch" from you in Northland, New Zealand.

I came to Linux and Linux Mint in 2006 at the age of 75 and have never regretted dipping my toes in the water. As Jimallyn said, if you have any questions just ask.
