Hello fellow Linux enthusiasts!
I'm so glad to have found Linux as Windows and MacOS alternative!
Never imagined Linux is such a good replacement for the 'established' OS
I came from the TRS80, DOS, Windows 3.1 etc and later MacOS. Lately I suddenly became fed up with the Apple greed for money, declining hardware quality and the irrepaireability of their products.
So I bought a 70 euro i3 HP 6300SFF desktop and if our Macbook 7.1 (mid2010) fails I'm planning to buy a Lenovo T420 laptop.
I gave up on installing Linux Mint on our Macbook after days and hours of trial and error so I will use the macbook with mac os until it dies. A bit sad to have to use MacOS for a while...
(I had issues with sleep mode not working, waking up after opening the lid and of course the infamous wifi adapter issue)
I feel at home with Linux, glad to be able to have more control although I have so much to learn.
My new Synology DS918+ is a great addition to the new Linux setup. I have yet to figure out how to implement it with Linus, using SMB or NFS but SMB does work great but still some reading to do on that topic.
Thank you all good people for helping out newbies! Your time is precious so it's very much appreciated!!
Erik

Welcome!
Linux Mint should also be installable on a Macbook.... If I'm not mistaking, that's even what the lead developer of Mint (Clément Lefebvre) is running his Mint on.
I have no experience with Apple hardware, but if you post a support question for that on this forum, I'm sure that someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you!
Maybe I'll give it another go and ask for help...
Would be nice to get rid of MacOS ASAP...

Welcome aboard, wwjd1924! I never use sleep/suspend/hibernate/whatever, but it seems to me I have heard about problems with that for some time, so it may not be related to your Mac hardware.
