Hello!
I am excited to join the Linux Mint community! My interest is particularly in free and open source GIS and CAD programs. I work in the surveying field and love to explore options with QGIS and like-minded programs. I want to get into programming so that I can help with development of these type of programs. I have found that Linux is a good platform on which to start my learning. I have jumped from many distros, but I feel like I can settle on Linux Mint for a long time to come. I have absolutely fallen in love with the Cinnamon Desktop. I have tweaked it to my liking of course I look forward to getting to know you all and helping to improve this wonderful OS.

hi mattdaddyp!
Welcome to Linux Mint and these excellent forums!
I'm new to Linux, and do see your mention of trying out other distros before settling on Linux Mint (good choice, btw! but I am biased and I do not know your level of Linux general knowledge so mention these websites that go from basic to advanced topics in their offerings as you might find some of it useful. (I love learning and these are defintely helping me get my head wrapped around Linux, for sure)
