Sleepless in Seattle

Post by markwigzell »

Hey guys, I thought I'd just intro myself a little.

I'm an Android dev now, who has programmed with Unix and Linux like forever. That should make me an expert right? Well, I still have newbie questions, and newbie problems. One cannot know everything for sure. It seems there is always a new wrinkle in the architecture of Linux that I don't know anything about. (Like right now, grub2: ugh!) The days of lilo are gone.
But isn't Linux wonderful when its all working? So nice to have all this open source code running so nicely. Well, there is a small problem (pardon the pun) with using 4k screens: the window minimize/maximize icons are tiny! I guess that'll work out someday.
I love my Banshee! All my CD's are ripped to my computer, where I share them out over a network drive to my Sonos sound system ...
I love Steam games! I'm a fan of Factorio, and I'm looking out for the day when I can boot up Steam VR.
Happy configuring!

It most certainly is! I am so happy I learned about Linux back in 2002!

Welcome! Wish I'd started on Linux sooner but probably know more about fixing it than I do (or did) about Windows. I used to  butcher  diagnose & repair some of the worst Windows borkage, probably couldn't do it now but did fix one of my Mint systems on which loads of system components had been erroneously removed, leaving no GUI etc., quite easily.
