All,
I just saw this thread so I thought I should say hi. about 1 year ago my old HP laptop kicked the bucket. I bought a new T580 Lenovo and it came with Windows 7. I was very surprised. For about year earlier I have been lurking into Linux but never had the guts to install.
I upgraded to Windows 10 and it took me about 4 hours to do and several reboots. I got so fed up with it I decided to install Linuxmint 18.3. In fact I took the entire plunge and blow out Window and full on Linux.
Its been about a year and I am still learning about the power of linux. In fact I have built 2 PC and just love this system. I am fan of the Mintcast podcast and learning more an more about this.
I hope one day I can contribute more to this forum with solutions instead of asking questions.
Keep up the great work. Love this community.

Hi Scottyo,
welcome to our forum
there is lot's of Ex Windows Users on this forum,
& all of them have moved over, for similar reasons, to that yours are.
NB: I'm currently modifying an ASUS Laptop, from win-8, over to dual_boot - - win-10 // LM19x
and it was the secure boot thing, that caused the most grief, this time.
- - with the win-10 having the largest group of updates, being required.

Once you find how easy Linux is, you'll never want to return to Windwoes. Imagine having to perform an update without the "Hurry up and wait" of Windwoe.
Welcome to Linux.

Welcome to Linux.

Hi scottyo! I've also been using Linux about a year (and a couple months). I found MInt to be pretty much perfect for me and find myself more connected with and able to learn and do more than I could with Windows. Welcome, and we may both have the same name too
