Good morning all. This is my first time ever joining a Linux forum for help and knowledge. I usually waste my time with long drawn out Google searching for answers to my questions, so it's nice to be somewhere I can actually chat with people.
I used to mess around with many various Linux flavors years and years ago, but I was never tech savvy with it, although I am tech savvy. So, I put Linux by the wayside when I bought my first UEFI motherboard for a new gaming rig I was building. Couldn't figure out how to install on UEFI and nothing online helped...so I gave up (which is unusual for me).
Anyways, now I'm back because I have some older PC's that still have life in them and want to use for specific purposes. Also, maybe I can FINALLY figure out how to install Linux on UEFI with my newest gaming rig Lol.
I expect to have a lot of questions

Good morning and welcome!
If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

Would these steps be applicable for installing Linux on it's own (no dual boot)?

Yes, with the exception of step 1 (disabling Fast Startup in Windows).

A lot of people just want the quick answer...the quick fix. You don't learn much that way imo. I know people who don't even know what version of Windows is on their PC or laptop haha.
Thanks for the compliment, Andy
