Yet another post-windows refugee

Post by olddaddy » Thu Aug 29, 2019 9:03 pm

Good Evening! I've signed onto the forum as part of my process of leaving behind WIndows and moving forward with Linux Mint.....I've a lot to learn and look forward to growing into this new way of computing. I am devoted to a couple of older and elderly laptops that I intend to breathe new life into in the process. Thanks for the forum and the chance to learn from each of you!

As for resurrecting old computers, nothing in my home is anywhere close to new - one laptop at least twelve years old (Mint 32-bit, Win XP 32-bit, Win 7 32-bit), another laptop a little less old (Mint 64-bit, Win 7 32-bit), desktop as a primary computer (Mint 64-bit, Win 7 32-bit, upgrade possible). My biggest job is getting The Bride on board with leaving Windows behind but I'm getting some pushback.

I haven't built a new computer since the beginning of the century, and Only purchased a new Laptop (last new on I'll ever purchase BTW) when W10 was new kid on the block. My oldest machines were new when XP was king.
Kernel: 4.15.0-46-generic x86_64 bits
Desktop: Cinnamon 3.8.9
Distro: Linux Mint 19 Tara

Laptop HP-ProBook-470-G2 8Gb RAM SSD
Server AMD Phenom 9650 - GEForce 9400GT 6Gb RAM
+ three other Mint machines
Out of my mind - please leave a message
