Goodbye Windows 7! Hello Mint Cinnamon!

Post by Samarian Sunset » Sat Sep 28, 2019 12:09 pm

Hello everyone! Happy to be here...This looks like a really nice & friendly board. Me, I'm brand spanking new to Linux and to Mint. I have to say I'm loving Mint! I installed 19.2 Cinnamon on my 10 year old Dell Optiplex 780 and it's working smoothly. I can't believe how easy it's been to transition from Windows 7 to Mint, almost no learning curve....And I put Mint Mate on my wife's 12 year old HP Compaq laptop and she's liking Mint too. Just wanted to say hi! I'm sure all have some future questions.

A warm albeit belated welcome from me too. I agree that this is amongst the best Forums and that Linux Mint is an excellent Distro as well as being the one I cut my Linux teeth on. I was so happy that I found something good which led me to giving Windows the heave-ho.

Cheers! :)

Welcome! I also am working on making the jump! I just did a dual boot and absolutely love it, unfortunately, I have a lot of documents that I work on daily for schoolwork that I need to keep Windows for the time being. But as soon as I'm done working on those, I can't wait to restart (and then wait 5 minutes for Windows to restart  ) so I can boot into LM and enjoy myself.

Welcome and here's to learning Linux together.
