Finally time to move from Windows to Mint

Post by hjalmarsson » Mon Oct 14, 2019 10:32 pm

Hi

I have been trying to move from Windows 10 to mint several times but always run into some issue. I just want it to work as my PC is my work machine and i don't tinker nor am I a techhead :-). I decided to try again last weekend and downloaded Mint 19 and omg..

I ran the live version for a day trying it out and it was amazing. After a day i just decided to install it fully, I then installed Chromium, hooked up to my gmail account and it synced all bookmarks and eveything else like any machine. I tested some of my documents and also family photos and it all just worked. It feels very snappy and doesn't matter how many tabs i have open browsing the web, documents open and what i do its just snappy. I then logged into O365 and it again just works. Ok i can't run Outlook thick client but there is no need now as it runs so well in the browser.

I even connected to my QNAP and Synology machine and all shares work. I did spend some time learning how to automount the shares but that was it. Now it just works..

I'm so happy... and finally.. windows... you are fired.

Thank you
Joel

I made the break 4.5 years ago. Glad I did. Occasionally I still work on a Windows machine for special jobs. But it is rare. And when I go back to Mint I breath a thankful sigh of relief.
