Hello from The Mild, Mild West (UK)
Hello there,
After decades of Windows use I've made the leap and am just starting to use Linux Mint and I like what I see so far.
I'm dual booting with Win10 while I find my feet and will be sure to peruse the forums here and ask any questions as they occur.
Cheers for now.
DM.

Welcome to the Linux Mint forums!
Many if not most of us started out dual-booting with Windows till we got comfortable on Linux. Some keep dual-booting and that's fine also.

Welcome to Mint!!
I started with Mint 17.3 Cinnamon, no dual boot, on a Dell E6400 laptop. I was always on my Windows 7 system and just used Mint occasionally. Then I got my hands on an iMac 9.1 and installed Mint 18 Cinnamon and used it as my daily driver. It now has Mint 19.2 Cinnamon and is still my daily driver. My Windows 7 system is now dual-booted with Mint 17.3 KDE (which I think is still most "beautiful" Mint version). I have an HP Envy 17t laptop with a dual boot to Windows 10 and Mint 19.2 Cinnamon. I have never booted it to Windows 10 and I never will. I am using it right now to write this reply.
I had to be on Windows 7 yesterday but before that, I hadn't booted that system in months. I setup a dual boot on the computer for the spouse-unit and she uses Mint exclusively. The dual boot is handy because it allows her to access her data on the Windows partition.
You will find that you are spending more time on Mint than on Windows. That's when you backup the Windows data, wipe the drive and install Mint alone.

That's the plan CaptainKirksChair, I'm mostly using Mint at the moment and once I've found suitable software solutions Windows will be history.CaptainKirksChair wrote: ⤴Sun Dec 01, 2019 3:32 pm You will find that you are spending more time on Mint than on Windows. Re: Hello from The Mild, Mild West (UK)
Welcome dm999, from someone just a little south of you in Devon.
My foray into Linux (Cinnamon 17) saw me with a dual boot Cinnamon/Windows 10 for about a year. I used Cinnamon all the time and eventually, once I was totally confident with Linus, decided to remove Windows10 as all I did was update it once a week.
Linux is a challenge and learning curve but interesting all the same, even for someone like me an octagenarian. I have used Min for over two years (now on 19.3) and once you accept that there is no hand holding - as with Windows - it usually goes fine. This Forum is great for help and advice as you will see.
For the couple of years I have had Cinnamon on both my desktop and laptop, but recently have put in MATE which, from a DVD, runs side by side with Cinnamon. I just Log In to whichever I want. To be honest, my computer requirements being quite simple, I find MATE being chosen most of the time.
Enjoy Linux - usually hassle free unlike some systems I could mention.
