Fairly New to Linux

Post by StarbuckTech »

Hello my name is Jason Starbuck. I have been using Linux Mint(CInnamon) for about a month now and I am really enjoying it. I tried other Distros including LinuxMX, Zorin, Pop OS, Endeavor OS, and Manjaro to name a few. After testing each of those out I landed with Linux Mint on my Desktop. I am still running LinuxMX on my laptop for now. I have only been using Linux in general for a couple of months and I am not only using Linux at this time tho. I also have a 2009 Classic Mac Pro running Mojave and a Win10 Desktop as well. I will add a photo of the setup for those that care about that kind of thing.

First thing that pops in my head when I see your setup is have you tried Synergy? I personally cannot speak for it, but have an interest for using multiple computers with one mouse and one keyboard. Anyway to each his own.

Also I thought Manjaro was suppose to be the cure for disro hopping. I guess the cure really is Mint when you want to get some productivity done.

That is the first thing that popped in my head too.
BTW I have, and do use it. ( I sometimes still use two laptops, rarely 3 (but that is just "playing" as don't really need 3)

I remember about ten years ago when first starting to use Linux, I used synergy, because I was still using winwoes for operating my small business, and Linux Mint was on a separate laptop, and I thought it would be cool if I could use just the one keyboard/mouse for both. Discovered synergy, there was no quick synergy in those days, and I messed with it for a couple of days before I got it working. Today with the quick synergy it is a snap to get working.

PS install just the quick synergy, and synergy will be installed automatically, as a depend.

Jason hi, welcome to the mint forums.
