moved to the dark side

Post by bbcg »

Greetings, not liking the likelihood of the windoze universe heading towards subscription basis and payware in general, and an unsatisfactory try in linux way way back when Ubuntu first came out but I have nothing other than origianal dos command line experience, Win7's death has finally driven me to make the switch to Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon, and thank goodness it is so familiar all the family will be able to surf, initially Sat tried to install dual boot but the grub did not work out correctly, would not show, and my win7 recovery disk would not work, since all my important data is on another disk took the plunge and made my boot disk all Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon and will finally learn to utilize linux properly. Have managed to install and get to work my two printers and two scanners and the sound plays so I think all my hardware is functioning. Am researching disk management and best way to migrate windows data disks to linux as I have terrabytes of photos I need to move and finally sort through and also evaluating photo software available in linux flavors, some of which I have played with in the past. So on to searching out answers to my questions and posting if not finding what I need.

Welcome, you'll enjoy it. Also, there is a typo in your title, you wrote to instead of from, here there is only light!

Indeed! What is this 'dark side' you speak of? Does this look dark to you? 8)

Am researching disk management and best way to migrate windows data disks to linux as I have terrabytes of photos
linux will read/write ntfs or fat partitions so no need to move.
