This is so wonderful it tickles!

Post by Chrysalessence »

Brand new Linux user here . . . after admiring the whole concept for many years. Installed and configured only minutes ago.
I got a new laptop last summer and the windows10 installed on it wracked my nerves and I hardly used it at all til now. So I figured as long as I am getting used to a new OS anyway, I might as well go all the way to what I really want! Yaaay for Linux! This is so wonderful it tickles!

The other big incentive for change is that I am putting together a non-profit venture that is based on the same principles of open sourcing, easy access, respect for privacy, and flourishing collaborations, so Linux is a natural fit practically and philosophically. I feel the research and writing that I'll do on my laptop will be very enhanced with a head-to-toes spirit of the free and open universe. :D

Thrilled to be here! :!:

If you are getting "tickles" from ANYTHING electrical, computers included, you'd best get an electrician to check it out. ;)

Sorry, my attempt at humour, welcome to the world of Linux.

Issemmens, it's the vibey vibe, the flowy flow, but most of all, sensing the planet-wide crew of peeps all crafting, caring, and coding. Gives me shivers.

Out of curiosity Chrysalessence where are you hoping set up this venture, who knows, some of our members here might be interested in getting involved. Given that the Linux community is about helping others, this sound like it might be right up their alley.

I appreciate your interest, isemmens.
I've been cooking up a coherent nutshell to explain the venture, based in Iowa, (U.S.) ....

Online publishing
* a la Wikileaks... so controversial information has a safe place to be seen even if some people don't want it to be seen
* a la the Von Mises Institute... to give air to notions of liberty that might otherwise not get enough air
* for my own songs and books (as they are written) to share in the Creative Commons

Brick & mortar
* a gathering place, a salon for hosting music, dance, and philosophical discourse
* piece-by-piece physical upgrades aimed toward sustainability in material, water, and energy
* although this is not my forte, likely a server (and more) to support independent communications and online gatherings

That's the current vision.
My little red hp laptop hums along with Mint 19.3 Cinnamon on Intel Pentium Gold.
