Downloading mint

Post by JTemple »

Should the OS be downloaded to a USB memory stick? OR can I move it onto the memory stick once it arrives? (I did not have one large enough on hand and had to order one.

You have to download the .iso to your harddrive first, and then make the USB-stick bootable with the .iso image.

IOS is the apple operating system ;)

This would be for the purpose of installing Mint as the only OS on my machine, correct? I understand the USB drive would run and I could select to wipe the driver for the Mint install. (Just clarifying, here)

YES - - just download that ISO to your HDD,
and then write that same ISO to your New usb stick .. which should be 4Gb or larger, in size.

don't forget to verify your ISO:

I think you mean the drive, not the driver.

Yes and no: this is how you would install Mint as a single OS. But it is also how you make a dual boot with a different, already present OS. That depends on what you choose during the installation process.

Read the installation guide here: https://linuxmint-installation-guide.re ... en/latest/
It will make things a lot clearer!
