Hi there from a new Linux user

Post by NoTorious »

Hi there!

My name is Dean, but I also go by Tori (hence the user name). I am coming back to linux mint, though I've never used it intensively.

I used to have it on my 'back up' computer (aka a desktop who's graphics card died) before giving that computer away to my brother (who luckily already knows some linux stuff, since that was the OS I had installed there). But I didn't have much time to play around on linux before I gave it away. Now I'm back here.

I want to see what other linux users say here and hopefully learn something by reading.

I'm not as computer savvy as I 'should' be but I'm trying hard to learn.

Anyway, hello to all!

Welcome! Reading the posts is a great way to learn! Just be careful if you try some of the commands mentioned in the posts. Before trying out a new command, I'd recommend learning about the command first. You can either search online for info about the command, or you can use "man command" in a terminal to get more info on it. Be careful to avoid using any commands that could cause harm or make unneeded changes!

Thank you two for the welcome :3

I'll keep that in mind about commands. Luckily I think I've somewhat learned my lesson about doing things I don't understand with computers XD (nothing harmful happened, but earlier when just starting trying to learn to code I tried a lot of snippets off the internet... and that doesn't teach me super well. I tend to need more instruction/ explanation. So I've been kind of mellowed about just trying whatever people suggest without knowing about it)
