Hello Hello!
Hello Hello!
I am totally new to linux. Like totally new. My first lil project I plan on putting myself through is recompiling my kernel, so wish me luck!

Re: Hello Hello!
Welcome aboard, L0ngNeck! I've been using Linux for 20 years and have never compiled a kernel. I have never needed to. But maybe I will try it one of these days just so I can say I did it.

Re: Hello Hello!
Compiling a kernel is supposed to be a rite of passage, at least it was long ago. It looks like there's some fairly good instructions on the Ubuntu site. Looks fairly easy ... but may take many hours to complete (according to what I've read - never tried it).

Re: Hello Hello!
That's all well and good for those who feel they need a rite of passage. I don't.
