UK Newbie Intro

Post by Cassandra »

Hello,
I got my first ever Linux machine today - and within a couple of hours I have managed to 'break' it.
Discovering novel and un-thought-of ways to break the unbreakable, and to make univerally-acknowledged-to-be-Fool-proof things go Wrong, is my special talent.

So, I immediately joined here, and have tried to post a lengthy screed (overstepping the margins of prolixity is my other 'talent') to ask for a Grown-up to clean up the mess that I made for myself

Temet nosce :D

It's how we all learn. Now is time to learn how to take backups and what to use. I recommend a combination of timeshift (for the system) and backtintime (for your data).

Welcome, can't Rodney help? He took night classes to learn how to use Computers ;)
I’ll tell you a DNS joke but be advised, it could take up to 24 hours for everyone to get it.

He did, but those were in the 80s - he says that he can't help me with anything as 'newfangled' as Linux
