Hi
Ran ubuntu for a while, a friend got me into Mint which is a bunch better for me!! Running it for years now!! Retired from machine shops!!!
My mint cinnamon 19.3 has been largely flawless, till today! Cannot get it to update which i do sometimes daily!
Got this message
*********
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

My system is an i5 64 bit Lenovo......cinnamon 19.3....... Installed a solid state drive a few months back which has been trouble free
Simply cannot get it to update and it gives me the red x in the update status
Simply have never learned the moves to keep my mint functional!! Thanks for whatever time you spend

Re: getting 19.3 cinnamon to update
Hello! We can most likely fix that right quick. Here's how:
- Close the update manager.
- Open a terminal. If you don't know how: ctrl + alt + t
- Copy the following command and paste it into the terminal (you can paste by rightclicking and choosing 'paste'):
That is the command that was suggested to you by the error message, with 'sudo' stuck in front to give you elevated rights.
- Press enter. Type your password when prompted. Press enter again.
- Now close the terminal, open the update manager, and see if it works now.
