Hello there

Post by thuemi »

Hello everybody

A week ago I started working with Linux for the first time. Even if it is rather technical, it comes across very symphatic. I am still completely inexperienced and have also already first problems with Linux. But we stay on it.

What problem or problems have you encountered? Whatever they are,,...please feel welcome to make a new topic about them ..here

https://forums.linuxmint.com/

If the main focus of the problem is not similar enough to any of the topic/links there, then click on the Begginer's link and then " New topic" and type the name of it in the subject line.

One of the best things you could get used to practicing is getting the results of the following terminal command ( step 5 in how to get help link outlined/background pink).. inxi -Fxxxrz

It shows how Linux Mint " sees" and deals with your computer but without posting any individually identifiable personal info. This, 99% of the time, saves on much speculation/guessing and saves much time for everyone.

Whenever you click on that </> button I also recommend you press that spacebar twice. This mains aiming into it much easier to post the results of that inxi command. This way anyone can more easily read it in a compressed and scrollable way. It keeps things from becoming as ....well..chat bloated.

2nd thing I recommend you get comfy doing is Timeshift backups..BUT I recommend manual ( turning off auto) and ensure you target a completely separate drive. TLDR = filling up your root directory often causes many problems including eventually the inability to boot into Linux Mint. If you ever need help with TimeShift ...many experience Linux users here are definitely capable and the actually software Dev ( AndyMH ) is an active member here also. He's a very cool guy and pretty patient.
