I just installed Linux Mint, and Wow!
I have been using Ubuntu since Gutsy, and though I love the distribution overall, every upgrade has been painful. I skipped 8.10 through 9.10 because of hardware that worked fine under Hardy that stopped working under the new releases. As much as I love Ubuntu, there doesn't seem to be a lot of focus on backward compatibility or making things work out of the box. I recently installed Lucid (fresh install), and it was a painful reminder of this. I stumbled on Mint, and decided to give it a go.
Wow! This distro is just plain beautiful. To all of the Mint community, please keep up your hard work. Your fork is bound to catch on.
I am so impressed by Mint!

Thanks for the kind words lacey! I think Ubuntu went overboard with changes, the purple Plymouth theme especially. Clem did an outstanding job with the artwork in Mint 9 and the improvements to the tools were just awesome.
