Grretings from Melbourne, Australia

Post by bobwombat »

Hi. I'm new.

Been using Microsoft gear since I was a kid, mainly because it's what I'd always known, it did what I needed it to and I was just sharp enough to be able to avoid infection [most of the time], and just sharp enough to be able to fix them when they happened.

I started dipping into the Linux world a only few years ago -- just a toe in the water -- mainly mucking about with Hardy. Had it dual-booted with XP on my old Celeron for a while, but barely ever used it. Mainly because it had a tendency to bork itself on update.

About six months ago, after the orignal HDD on my EeePC 1000HE died, I figured I might as well give Linux another shot. After some marathon distro-hopping, I came across Isadora. It was *exactly* what I was looking for, and more. Loved it. Grabbed Julia RC as soon as it came out and loved it even more.

I'm slowly coming to grips with everything, trying to get into the terminal as often as I can, learning in bits and pieces, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I've dipped into the forums here a few times, usually to great success [thanks!], so I figured it was time I signed up and introduced myself.

So, yeah. Hi!
