LMDE Raid partition automount ? <SOLVED>

Postby ChrsPaps » Fri Dec 30, 2011 2:15 pm

Hello All mighty MINT users ! Thanks for viewing this,

Installed MINT Debian Edition. The problem: Raid partition not showing up in "Computer" automatically.

Details: I have a system with 3x hard drives, 2 in RAID-0 configuration and one stand-alone. LMDE installed on the NON-raid disk (unfortunately i had no luck installing MINT on Raid partition no matter the different ways i tried but this is another thing). After installation & updates/upgrades i installed dmraid and restarted. The Raid partition showed up in the "Computer" after the restart, automatically and i was happy :)

Right after i installed the proprietary nvidia driver and restarted but I got the known flashing cursor instead of X loading up (because i didn't remove the nouveau nvidia driver before restart). Seeing the flashing cursor problem, i restarted into recovery and issued apt-get remove nvidia*, which also removed dmraid package!!!

Restart again, got back to X, reinstalled the dmraid and fixed the blinking cursor issue with nvidia proprietary driver. System is now working normaly but since reinstallation of dmraid it does not automatically mount the RAID partition. Any clues on how to fix that ?

sudo dmraid -ay says that the RAID partition is already activated, why isn't mounted at boot automatically ?

My suggestion is that an entry should be made in fstab. Try googling to find the correct entry.

SOLVED:

Created a folder named RAID in /media
sudo mkdir /media/RAID

Entered an automount entry in fstab
sudo gedit /etc/fstab
entry at end of fstab file: UUID=B0563B29563AEFA8 /media/RAID ntfs rw 0 0

Reboot, and the RAID partition was automounted in RAID folder in "Computer" window.

note: to see the partition UUID you issue: sudo blkid

:D
