Well its been a long time since I've posted so, I wanted to throw my hat in the ring. I followed an excellent tutorial and this is the end result. Hope you all like it.

BTW, if your wondering, it was made using the Gimp.

No photoshop here.

the background is outstanding

i would love to see some kind of bumpmap on it, like ubuntu did with the "elephant skin wallpaper"...

some organic structure like cells or zoomed leave!

The grass effect is great and, like others have said, the yellow to green background gradient is excellent.

Why 1900x1425 though? Unless I'm mistaken, this isn't a very common monitor resolution.

I like it very much!
My 2 cents would be, to make the "from freedom came elegance" part, look like a pattern of small white rocks.

@akaNed just images and a lot of patience in Gimp.

@eeezzzeee I've been waiting to do that tutorial ever since it was posted, its been months and recently got some free time in work so...

@Jernau No it's not a common size, but the aspect ratio is the same for standard monitors, so it can resize down properly. I guess I should make one for wide-screens too.

If I only had more time for fun stuff

Thanks again guys. I've been using this wallpaper on my mac at work and it's been great people here keep asking me about it. It's definitely become a head turner.
