Seriously, it bothers me, not in the least. I just want an OS that works, who cares about the eye candy?

And now for something completely different

Kernel: 4.15.0-36-generic x86_64 bits: 64

Distro: Linux Mint 19 Tara

Laptop T4500 Dualcore 4Gb RAM
Server AMD Phenom 9650 - GEForce 9400GT 6Gb RAM
+ three other Linux Mint machines
Out of my mind - please leave a message

This is like when my asks which pattern I like for the new dishes . . . . Not to cause problems I look at the first one and the second one and then back to the first one and say that's the one I like because it matches the curtains.

So I will say the first one - it matches the curtains.

I do like the shade of green better, though.
I do, too. Nonetheless, I agree with you in that I prefer the original. I am hesitant to use "advertising department" language, but the official logo just looks more... organic(?) to my eye. Maybe it reminds me of a leaf or something, I don't know  .

I do wish that it didn't have that "faded" section where the line on the bottom right curves, though.

But I'm an odd one and even I know it, lol. For example, in general, I dislike the color green (although in a mild sense of the term "dislike"), and very much prefer the color blue - but I cannot help but think the official logo would look worse if it were blue instead of green.

Just my opinion. The urge to fix that which is not truly broken in the first place has been the driving force behind a great many things linux - which is why there are "1,001 ways to skin a dead cat" when we are running it; many applications that basically serve the same function and such. And I suppose that this is probably a good thing - although I do occasionally find myself wondering what could have been accomplished if all those countless development hours spent on duplicating things... had been spent on something else entirely. Cold fusion, perhaps :P .

It's cool :D There was already something very similar posted in the past (but can't remember where), you may have a look here too

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=150951

and it's a bit reminding of Tic Tac's logo

Neither really, it's the "brand name" & the Mint leaf is the logo. However, the term "Mint" as used in Manchester is rather fitting for this distro.

I had to get on here and say, I installed this new logo (up at opendesktop.org) and it's really sharp looking. I believe it should become default, just my 2 cents. Thanks, SebastJava

I do not know if this logo will become official one day, but I could not wait, so I integrated it everywhere on my computer. And I made this work available to you...

Some of these are nice--I also favour the darker ones.
A couple resemble lemons--that wouldn't be good association.
One of them looks like an onion.
It's good that members in our community are pondering these attributes though---contributing thoughts, ideas, and talent.
Thumbs up

The new logo is more on the way, but i don't like the curves, should be simply inside a square (same borders and colors), It would look much much better.

I even think for the taskbar, Linux Mint should leave just the LM symbol, kind of symbolic style. it would make look the panel more classy.

Set your menu logo to this, if I understand you correctly that's what you're looking for:

Code: Select all

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/linuxmint-logo-flat-5-symbolic.svg
(that file is from mint-artwort v1.1.9, I don't know if all versions have it)

I agree. I already made it this way:

You must have some background other than white, or else it is just white on white and there is nothing displayed...
