The proposed logo is not radically different. It's just a new version.
But re-created. Totally redrawn. Made flat, simple, and symmetrical.

This logo is now based on a single path with the minimum number of nodes required. It's a very simple SVG file... but there are many hours of work in it. This SVG file is at your disposal for further examination.

  • New Grid alignments: equal spaces and equal widths
  • New background: 50% circle, 50% square (= leaf)
  • New color: HSL = 96, 112, 128 (#48b865)
  • Something is removed...
  • ...And something is added
The logo is important. It's our collective identity.
We changed the theme and icons by switching to Mint-Y. This could be the next step...

Made flat, simple,
Two reasons I'd be against it. I don't like one bit "modern" logos (or icons). Sorry. I do like the shade of green better, though.

I have always "disliked" the original logo, it is too darn fuzzy and bothers my eyes immensely,
the first thing I do with a new install, is to get rid of that "damn distasteful logo".

the new one is Crisp and Sharp, and the green is more pleasing to my eyes.

I vote for the New Logo.

This is strange. Just about 10 minutes ago the vote tally was 2 to 2. Now it's 1 to 5. How can that be?

Good work on your concept but I got no trouble with the current logo and re-branding isn't nearly as easy as you think, between trademarks, mintboxes and probably other licensing agreements, and the work it would take to change all current branding. I saw the issue you raised but there's no way to simply release this as a point release. I think last time they changed the logo they held a contest, didn't they?

Regarding logos, I do wish xenopeek would fix the favicon for the site though to add an alpha channel, that white background irks me on my dark theme. :P

OUPS!!!
Sorry everyone ! It's getting late, i am very tired, but when Pierre asked me to add this third option, i did it, thinking this is the first day and it's still time to experiment. Now i know i can't touch it anymore !

I think it was 4 / 4 before trying to add this option. So i erased 8 votes by mistake. Can't try to go back because then i would erase the new ones. I guess those who lost their votes can re-vote. Let me try with my vote... Yes, great, now there is one vote for the new version: mine...

My vote got lost when he added the 3rd option.
apparently revising the options erases votes

Yes, your first vote got lost. But i guess you re-voted. I did. That was a stupid mistake i made and i apologize. I think it was something like 4/4 when votes got accidentally lost. That happened in the first hours after creating this poll...

"Now it's 1 to 5. How can that be?" This happened before i made the erasing mistake. There is only one explanation i can find: someone changed is mind and re-voted. We are allowed to do that because i clicked this option when writing this topic and poll. So this is normal.

Actually, I prefer the following. I believe it's from version 17.

I like the colour but think it does look too "flat", so voted "I hesitate".

I do like the one you posted, JerryF.

I voted for the new logo. However, of all the logos submitted through the years, I still prefer the one suggested by troken

Heh, nice, I had hesitated posting that here because I didn't want to take attention away from OP's contribution but that one has always been my favourite as well. Although for a logo the inverse variant was possibly better:

Anyway, great design by him.
