A selection of wallpapers
Here's some of the wallpapers I have been working on over the last few months. All of them are made in Blender, some based on tutorials some from my imagination.
Edit: I have added links to Imgur. If anyone wants to download any of them click the image link then right click and save as. Some of them are 4K.

Thanks CtrlAltDel, it's much appreciated.
For the top one I followed a tutorial which was recreating the WIn 11 wallpaper, then played around with it until it looked not like the Win wallpaper.
I got the inspiration for the middle after watching a TV show about a eastern European dictator who built himself a big palace from the people's money. Inside were some odd looking stone carvings and that's what I based the wallpaper on.
Here's a few more

Yeah, I don't rush any of these, it's a hobby after all so no deadlines to meet. Democracy, it has its share of dictators who are busy making loads of money whilst claiming to care about the people. Maybe that's why they're not keen on sharing.
I have added Imgur links to the high res versions.

Thanks. I've been using Blender for six years now and I have only scratched the surface of what it is capable of. It's an amazing piece of software and it's free That is so cool.CtrlAltDel wrote: ⤴Thu Oct 14, 2021 5:15 pm Wow. The motherboard image is outstanding. After seeing your creations with Blender, I'm going to have to give it a try. I've been putting it off for a while now because I haven't really even mastered Gimp, not by a long shot.
Just to let you know, the last time I tried the version of Blender from the Mint repo I couldn't get cuda to work, and I need it for my Nvidia graphics card. It might have been fixed by now but just in case it hasn't I usually download the latest stable version from the Blender website.

I'm not much of an Inkscape user either. It is good for turning images into SVGs and then opening them up in Blender.
Playing around with the new geometry nodes today and came up with this .
https://i.imgur.com/UKrjq7I.jpg Just wondering in anyone knows what causes the white edge on the right hand side and bottom. It always appears after scaling down images in Gimp and running crop to content?

Re: A selection of wallpapers
Yes, thanks. Image/Scale Image solves the problem. The white lines only appear when using the scale tool and crop to content.CtrlAltDel wrote: ⤴Sat Oct 16, 2021 6:22 pm
You may wish to try Image/Scale Image instead of the scale tool. If you only have one layer, you are likely scaling the layer instead of the image when using the scale tool. Or, perhaps a Layer/Layer To Image Size would help.
Thanks. Yes it looks like the scale tool is not 100 percent accurate.absque fenestris wrote: ⤴Sat Oct 16, 2021 7:32 pm I'm sorry to say this, but GIMP is really too stupid to cut away the erroneous margin of 2 pixels wide on the right and bottom.
FastStone makes it quick and easy:
Cool image by the way - I first thought of an animated GIF in the LM logo.
The full sizes images are straight from Blender and not scaled down. The images that have the line are the ones added to the post, I have to scale them down so that they are under the 200kb limit.CtrlAltDel wrote: ⤴Sat Oct 16, 2021 9:00 pm
On closer examination, there is no white line either on the right side or bottom when opening the images full sized. It seems to be something to do with the Mint forums. I've opened several of the images that Caz has created and saved them and there are no white lines anywhere.
It just appears to be a problem with Gimp's scale tool, so thanks to everyone for the solution, it's a problem that's been bugging me for ages.

Rather make something with explosions and severed body parts and such from a current war game. That should work.

But hurry up if you want it, I've requested user account deletion on this forum.
If my calculations are correct Oscar799 will do this in the morning at 9:01 am, central European time.
