Here's a quick, dirty little idea for a default background... give me suggestions and I'll update it accordingly, or make your own updates.

Hi sanford. The overall image structure looks good, but the color scheme and text ruins it IMO.

Try a way higher contrast between the black and green, and get a really smooth font with maybe a black shadow.

yeah, it was just "quick and dirty" like i said. took the default wallpaper and played with the contrast to give it a more "minty" color scheme... as best as i can tell.

ok fine, i'll admit it.. i'm blue-green colorblind, so sometimes the colors seem to get a little confusing. i had to as a friend if it was green enough :p

so by all means, take it and work with it. won't offend me one bit, that's why i posted it :)

Looked over it again. Make "Linux Mint" one word all lower case. "linuxmint"

But use the colour black for "linux" and green for "mint"

Sorry if it appears that i am spelling colour wrong every time i write it, i am from New Zealand, and we use the original British spelling :P

Linuxmint Wallpaper

Post by bobpur » Mon Dec 25, 2006 6:30 pm

How about the Linuxmint emblem in the opposite corner from the word "Linuxmint?" On a scale so as to bring balance to the overall picture.

Or the emblem about 2/3 the vertical size and centered (Horizontally and vertically) with "Linuxmint" also centered inside the emblem. Maybe, include the version number.

Oh Yeah, with the emblem as mentioned previously, have Tux ride a peppermint leaf (flying carpet style) thru the center of it with the wording and version number in opposite corners.

I've been thinking about learning to use GIMP and getting some of my ideas out there, but I'm still trying to learn Linux:)

Very nice, but could you move logo up a bit, or to top right hand corner, (even better), when I use KDE, the bottom panel partially covers the logo.
Thanks - Nick
