The best way I have found is by downloading the relevant .deb packages from here to your Desktop:
http://dev.carbon-project.org/debian/wine-unstable/
Then:

Code: Select all

cd Desktop

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i

If you get messages complaining of errors or missing dependencies you'll need to run:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get -f install

You may need to run that several times.
Hope this helps.

If you are using 64 bit Debian version you will also need to install ia32 libs compatible graphics drivers to run wine games or apps at optimum speed and compatibility.

Even after install all the dependent files you might still into some glitches as some games or apps run 100% perfect while some might crash the PC, its always better to run the game in 800x600 window mode before as you can control and kill the game if it gets hung. later you can switch to fullscreen mode if it runs perfectly without resizing your screen.

Try #dpkg -i *.deb
for the middle step
