update getting error and stopping

Postby oldgi » Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:57 am

I am running Mint 11 Debian 32 bit and have tried several time to do the updates and always get this same errror:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad_0.10.22-3_i386.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstxvid.so', which is also in package gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad 0.10.22-0.1

Is there a fix for this?

Do others get this same error?

I have tried it on three different systems, with internal HDD installed software, external HDD, USB flash drives and on each it errors out at the same place.............

Here is details of error reported:

Just delete that package using Synaptic or apt-get. There's mention of that if you read the update notes for UP3.

Just exclude the gstreamer packages until, you have done all of the rest of the updates (new install). When you have cycled through all of the other updates, then update the 2 gstreamer packages. Should build properly at that point.
