LMDE on HP Elitebook 8460p?

Postby johan.vanderwalt » Wed May 02, 2012 10:15 am

Good day!

I am in the process of finding an upgrade for my five year old HP Compaq laptop on which I run LMDE. I am looking for a rather powerful machine since I also would like to do some number crunching on it. The HP Elitebook 8460p seems to be an option but before just buying I would like to know whether LMDE will install and run smoothly on it. I really don't have a lot of time to fiddle around to solve problems. Shall appreciate your advice.

Thanks!!

Johan

It should run smoothly but...
HP recommends Windows® 7.

With Linux in mind I would pick something without hybrid graphics...
Performance and efficiency will be far superior running windows :( .

Code: Select all

The program 'suck' is currently not installed.  To run 'suck' please ask your administrator to install the package 'suck'

Hmmm... but it seems to me almost every brand recommends Windows 7. What about Lenovo Thinkpad?
