LMDE updates

Postby denvermint » Mon Jan 10, 2011 8:18 pm

Greetings,

This is my first post, after having installed LMDE three days ago.

I am curious about the updates I get on LMDE vs. the updates I might get with the regular linux mint.

question 1: Should I expect to get more frequent and/or larger updates with LMDE?

question 2: I know LMDE is based on the Debian Squeeze (test), but how much chance is there that an update will make my installation unusable?

Thanks
Steve.

Debian and Debian Squeeze (stable) are well know for being 'rock solid' stable --- always!!

If you are using LMDE with the Debian 6.0 Squeeze repros and not 'testing' ... you will never break your system with updates.

In Ubuntu the recommend way is to do a 'fresh install' for a new release
When using Debian a 'fresh install' is not recommended ... with Debian the recommended way is to update.

I don't know that you would get any more updates with Debian than with Ubuntu . . . the amount of updates is probably less.
Fewer updates and more stable updates . . . works for me.
